Fall Fundraiser

An Evening with Stephen Alvarez

South Cumberland Community Fund's main fundraising event of the year was attended by 147 guests who gathered in the auditorium at Monteagle Sunday School Assembly for a presentation by Sewanee native Stephen Alvarez. Alvarez's intriguing talk included stunning photographs projected on the big screen that depicted worldwide explorations by Alvarez and his colleagues conducted for National Geographic. Equally impressive were photographs of ancient cave drawings from all over the globe, including examples of this art form discovered in caves under the South Cumberland Plateau. In 2017, Alvarez  established the Ancient Art Archive, a worldwide effort to explore and preserve these ancient artworks left by humanity's first ancestors.

Thank You to Stephen and Our Donors, Volunteers, and Community Members
