Music Programs
South Cumberland Community Fund has a permanent program of support for music appreciation and education on the South Cumberland Plateau. It is governed by a standing committee of the board and funded by the Paul S. McConnell Music Fund and annual gifts from such strategic partners as The Caverns, a local outstanding music venue and community partner.
We are proud to support local music education programs as well as community events, including the South Cumberland Shindig and Christmas in the Caverns. The education opportunities we support include both programs in partnership with the Monteagle-Sewanee Rotary Club, local school systems in three counties, and the Grundy Area Arts Council, which sponsors a growing and thriving Junior Appalachian Musicians (JAM) program. We do this work through grants, convening, and planning and study.
We also manage the Caitlin Curry Scholarship, funded by the Caverns, which provides a student from Grundy County a $12,500 scholarship to attend the Scott Borschetta College of Media and Entertainment at Middle Tennessee State University, pursuing a degree through the Department of Recording Industry with an emphasis in audio production, music business, or commercial songwriting.
